Description: A common question that I get as an RD2BE is what is the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist? Simply put, every dietitian is a nutritionist but not every nutritionist is a dietitian. To become a dietitian (RD/RDN), you have to go through a standardized process which requires getting a bachelor's degree in dietetics, completing the dietetic internship, passing the CDR exam, gaining state license, and taking continuing education. On the other hand, becoming a nutritionist isn't a standardized title and often times, there are many people who self-claim to be nutritionists without having taken any formal education on the topic of nutrition.
